Christopher Iga is an accomplished Auditor and Senior Partner with M/S Central Accountants and Associates. He previously served as chief accountant at Mitchell Cotts (U) Ltd, Uganda Industrial Machinery Ltd, Uganda Company (Trading) Ltd, East Africa Tea Estates etc. Between 1998 and 2001, Mr. Iga was appointed Resident District Commissioner (RDC) – Masaka and Bushenyi Districts by H.E the President of Uganda and elected Mayor of Kampala City for 2 consecutive terms (1989-1998). He also served as a Director and Board Member, M/S Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd (1992-1997) and Chairperson, Urban Authorities Association of Uganda. In 1993 he was elected 1st Vice President, International Union of Local Authorities at the Hague, Netherlands; Member, United Nations Committee on Poverty Eradication (1997-1999) and Chairperson, Commonwealth Local Government Forum, London, UK (1995-1998).
